Our History
Jurong SDA Church, then called Queenstown SDA Church, began in the early 1970s in a small 2-story shop house at Stirling Road. The church grew quickly, and soon moved to a single story bungalow house with the help of Balestier SDA Church. By 1980, Queenstown SDA Church had grown to 60 regular worshippers.
In 1983, the Singapore Adventist Mission purchased a plot of land at 90 Jurong East St 13 to build a new church for Queenstown SDA Church. For the 3 years during the construction of the building, Queenstown SDA Church rented facilties from the nearby Catholic Church of the Blessed Sacrement for Sabbath School and Worship services.
The new church building was finally completed in 1985, and Queenstown SDA Church gladly moved into their new premises at 90 Jurong East St 13 and became known as Jurong English SDA Church and Jurong Chinese SDA Church, catering to both English and Chinese speaking congregations.
We thank God for blessing Jurong SDA Church throughout the years. Today Jurong English SDA Church has grown to more than 250 members from more than 10 countries, with a strong Filipino and Myanmar community. Together, we continue to strive to be the ACTS 2 Church, moving forward on our knees in prayer, reaching the community in Jurong and in Singapore, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.
